Although the exterior of this winery suggests it has seen better days, the inside suggests money is better spent on modern technology to ensure high quality wine making. Both Quinta do Cerrado and second label, Cunha Martins, producer large volumes of very good quality wine for a sharp price.

Cunha Martins 2009 DOC Equal parts of Touriga/Roriz/Alfrocheiro have produced this clean mix of savory, red fruit aromas and flavors. Tightly controlled in the mouth, with considerable length of palate, I liked its well focused cherry-like flavors and fresh acidity. A great bargain priced wine.

Cunha Martins Branco 2010 This blend of Encurzado, Malvasina Fina, and Rabo-de-Ovelha shows fresh, floral, melon aromas and flavors and is full bodied  with supportive acidity. It sells locally for 4eu.

Cunha Martins Garrafeira 2006 This blend of Touriga/Rroriz/Alfrocheiro/jJaen offers smoky red fruit aromas and flavors. Medium bodied, it finishes with an attractive red fruit juiciness and firm tannins. This sells locally for 6.87eu

Cunha Martins Reserva 2008 A blend of Touriga/Roriz/Alfrocheiro with roasted fruit quality, a slight mustiness, and rustic tannins, This sells locally for 3.99

Quinta do Cerrado 2007  A blend of 70% Touriga Nacional and 30% Tinta Roriz this displays savory earthy, red fruit aromas and flavors, and is amply fruited with firm tannins. good, honest wine. Sells locally for 5eu

Quinta do Cerrado Encruzado 2009  Nicely rounded honeyed finish with firm acidity and a touch of fine tannins in support. It sells locally for 6eu

Quinta do Cerrado Malvasia-Fina 2010 This is a wonderful wine brimming with personality. Tossing out lovely spice and banana aromas, it reminds me of a very subtle gewürztraminer. Full bodied, slick and ultra smooth in the mouth it offers tropical fruit (pineapple, banana and melon) flavors and firm acidity. It sells locally for 6-7eu and is excellent value

Quinta do Cerrado, Lagares do Cerrado Grande Escolha 2008, Pure, lagar made Touriga matured in 30% new French and 2nd year Portuguese oak.  Aromas and flavors are a mix of savoury, mineral and dried black fruit aromas and flavors. Dense and inky nose, in the mouth it is marked by explosive fruit,  strong tannins and fresh acidity. A big, chunky, powerful wine, it needs more time in bottle.

Quinta do Cerrado, Reserva 2006 60% This blend of Touriga /30% Roriz and 10%Jaen  offers complex, spicy, Touriga florals with black fruit notes. Expansive, persistent and amply fruited inthe mouth, it is smartly structured with firm, but fine tannins. Although it is still very young, it promises positive evolution in future This is consistently one of my favorite Cerrados and excellent value for money. This sells locally for 5.9eu
